Poem from dream

As I awoke this A.M. I was definitely composing a poem. Something to do with a crack den being busted by police.

They called it a 'cracking up'
To turn an assembly into an incident
100 free policemen were dispatched
and the scientific branch from Plymouth

Nick I sometimes felt bad that the guys at uni, including me sometimes it has to be confessed, called you Crazy Nick. But I think, and I don't mean this in a denigratory way whatsover I assure you, that it is true, in the sense that you are a genius, and everyone knows the blurriness of the line between genius and madness. You're ace buddy. It's true. X

But it's a line nonetheless...

Thanks mate.

i prefer to think of it as a wavy, curvy, loopy line rather than a fuzzy one.

hm, i don't have a massively visual imagination, more a conceptual one i think, and so i'm not sure that when i use a word i have a visual concept of, for example, a line.

i also hope that my references to madness did not offend.

i am constantly realising anew that i am a little crazy myself - well, let's use that nice term provided by the man with a beard (not to be confused with MR beard, even though their ginger celtic beards actually match!!!) - loopy, cos it sounds cuter.

and to be honest, i think life viewed in a slightly loopy way is pretty cool.

i mean, in my view, perhaps there is no line between genius and madness, because viewing something from outside the box means that one is not completely normal, or what's the best term to use i don't know, maybe conformist, but that has political connotations. agh.

but my point is that in a way, to come up with an idea that is new, to see something in a way that is different from how everyone, especially the super-sheepy people of the world, sees things, is to be a little extraordinary, one might say, a little loopy. and yet it is these bursts of weirdness in terms of what is acceptable, expected and therefore 'normal' are examples of genius, no?

and so i suppose i think that genius comes from madness. madness is a prerequisite for genius.

but i don't mean madness as in clinical madness. there must be some kind of scale for seeing things in fresh n funky ways to seeing things in down right nah that's just nuts man ways.

blergh.

blergh???

I find the world to be much more enjoyable when in the company of someone in a slightly loopy mood.

Hey, yeah, I get what you mean, you said a lot there. I think the crux is just what is the difference between fresh an funky, and nuts.

It's funny, I'm reading this amazing book at the moment, and it touches on this very subject (to quote, "The Fine Line Between Brilliance and Madness that modern filmmakers/writers dine out on"). I shall share further thoughts, when they are ready :)

o cool! it's always nice to be understood! and i look forward to receiving posts enlightening me on your interesting sounding readings. psychology is muchly of interest to me. but in a non-formal kind of a way. like just seeing how much i can understand about people on an individual and on a generic level. and also, on another note, i am enjoying how one element of this recent blog enthusiasm has been peer education - learning from each other through enthusiastic sharings. i love it baby yeah!!!
